- “The weight of the press should be mostly in the rollers and the bed. Always remember that the overall weight of a press is not an indication of its quality—a very heavy press may actually have a great deal of its weight distributed in the wrong places, such as in the frame” said by Most Senior Printmaker of United State who has almost 45 years of Experience in Printmaking Research.

Care of the Press :
- Always oil the parts of your press that require lubrication.
- Don’t use excess pressure when you print. The correct amount of pressure for each plate is determined by the print— if the deepest area of the plate is printing well, then the pres- sure is correct. Excess pressure causes the plate to wear down quickly, makes turning the handle of the press very difficult and may damage the press.
- Never print an object or plate that is so uneven in height that it might cause the bed to bounce as the roller passes over it.
- Place the press in a studio as far from the acid baths as possible-the acid may cause the metal on the press to corrode.
- Don’t leave your printing blankets engaged, or caught in the press, overnight. The damp printing paper causes the blankets to become wet, and the moisture will cause both the roller and the bed to rust.
